Pre-Production: Logistic Resources

After completing the script and storyboard, I got to work completing all of the logistic forms, such as contributor release and risk assessments. These forms are important for the legality of it all, as without these forms no production would get the green light to go ahead, as it would have no permissions from actors to use them in the film, and there would also be dangers that have not been thought about.

Personnel List
It took me a while to finalize a personnel list for my project, mostly because it took me quite a while to find the right people to involve. I wanted the people involved to have a talent that I could showcase, yet I did not want the talents to be similar.
I also had to externally source the people I would use, which also took a while to find the right fits.
The magician I included I already knew personally, and I had seen him perform before so I knew he would be a good fit for a documentary about talent.
The same went for the game designer, as I already knew him personally and had seen him work before.
With the performance class I had met a few of the students before, but I did not know many of them and it was new working with all of them in one room.
I did also know the singer before, yet I had not worked with them at all so before I filmed with them I asked them to showcase some of their work so I could see if they were a good fit.

Contributor Release Forms

These contributor release forms were necessary for this production, as I needed permission from each person to use their footage in my documentary. If I had not gotten confirmation that I could use the footage I would not have been able to include these people in the film and I would have had to find other people who were alright with being on screen, which could've taken weeks and would've set the production back a while.

Risk Assessments

These risk assessments were also necessary. This is because it helped me and the contributors understand what hazards were around the location we were filming at, and what steps we would have to take to avoid these hazards and injuries.

Locations

Dance Studio/Theatre

Rehearsal Studio

Magicbox

House office
The location scouting and release forms helped me source locations for the project and allowed me to find locations weeks before filming so that everything was ready. The location release forms were needed so that I could get the owners permission to film on location and so I could get their permission to have the location on screen in my documentary.

Resource List
The resource list helped me fully understand and figure out what things I needed for filming, such as the tripod for general filming, or the computer for the game designer etc.

Now that I have completed all of the logistic and creative paperwork, I am ready to start filming. Unfortunately, I cannot start shooting until next week, so I will use this next week or so to make sure everything else is completed and up to date so that I can get a head start on other things.
